Eiffage Construction wanted to rethink their assessment centre in order to offer candidates a new approach and recruiters a new method of observation for soft skills.
Idea
A fully gamified assessment centre based on a very powerful scenario: the accidental release of a virus. The game-based methodology used enabled three main stages to be set up to highlight a dozen of the soft skills required by Eiffage Construction. The scenario was deployed across an initial round of In Basket, then an EscapeGame and finally a role play activity. The whole activity, designed specifically around these soft skills, was timed to keep the candidates under pressure and in an intense enough atmosphere to force them to perform as they would in a real life scenario. Finally, observation grids specifically designed for observers and for this assessment centre were made available to recruiters.
Goals
The assessment centre should be designed to make candidates “be themselves” as much as possible in a setting unlike traditional interviews. The intention was also to offer a new observation area for recruiters.
